See the guy in white t-shirt shadowing #RefuseFascism’s #trumppencemustgo protest?
Well, he couldn’t wait to tell me his OPINIONS and that he’s an AMERICAN. The way he said it was so condescending, DEMEANING and INSULTING, especially to me, who’s part-Native Indian AND a descendant of pre-slavery settlers who watched ALL THEY WORKED FOR undone by hateful migrants like his parents.
This person couldn’t wait to tell me to respect the process that “chose Trump”. GTFOH!! He means the secret, electoral college process created by white supremacy to obstruct the votes of women and non-whites.
But I didn’t even get into that with him. I immediately zeroed in on his “American” comment, for which I replied, “Watch your tone.”. Right away, he was clueless and responded with, “What do you mean?”
I then stated, “The way you say ‘American’, implies that you’re more American than others, and especially to me, who’s part Native Indian. And can I ask when your family migrated to this country during Jim Crow?”
His angered response, “EXCUSE ME?? My family came here in 1956…. [insert made something for themselves and worked hard].”
My response, “1956 was Jim Crow and your family came here during ‘whites only’ and happily settled in” — with ENDLESS opportunities as white supremacy was law of the land. And even more sickening, his family migrated here AFTER the horrific lynching death of Emmett Till. So… did his father say, you know… here’s a great place for us to go to, our options are endless… they’re lynching non-whites and women are still property… but let’s pack our bags and move there… and we don’t have to listen to anyone but ourselves while telling others what they should do. And by the way, his father was able to migrate to this country with no questions asked!! There was no wall, border, or questioning their arrival.
But why this person is so dangerous: he’s ignorant of the history of this country AND is complacent with white supremacy a/k/a white male domestic terrorists.
Another person marching with us claims this person is in law enforcement. That would explain why he shadowed the march from the start at Union Square, THEN followed it to Times Square — already there before our arrival — so he could stand and watch. He’s afraid that others (non-whites) he and his ancestors chose to ignore would have a voice or would matter. His only concern: that his family has endless doors opened for them and their success, while that same door is closed to others.
And he doesn’t/didn’t understand the protests against Trump. But rest assured, if Trump was caging white babies and kids exclusively, he’d be the first person to storm the “Trump concentration camps” to free as many white babies and kids as possible while protesting “Cliven Bundy-style” against Pussy Grabber.
