Sent to Tim Scott (SC). Who wants to bet Scott will remain silent, even after having so much to say after President Biden’s SOTU address.
I’m involved in an education project regarding family values, integrity, decency and honesty. We ask the source, rather than assume.
And our portion is regarding “honesty”, relating to Tim Scott’s comments regarding jobs that would be lost because of tax hikes. Can Mr. Scott, or one of his staffers, provide the exact number of jobs that have returned from overseas since the creation of 2017 Tax Cuts And Jobs Act? One of the biggest complaints of employers: taxes were too high to conduct business, including manufacturing-based businesses.
Also, what safety nets did Tax Cuts And Jobs Act recipients create for employees, such that there would be no need for a bailout during required COVID shut down? I think that is what is called “trickle down”.
Also, has Tim Scott toured all of South Carolina. I lived there (Columbia) for a year and half, and toured various areas off HWY77 to and from Charlotte, North Carolina and Atlanta, Georgia. I was terrified and horrified. Klan insignias existed on vehicles, while no license plates were present (because they’re anti-government and “commanded” their local areas), while the flag of treasonous confederates draped numerous homes. Strom Thurmond, a Sons of confederate Vets member, was most adored by white supremacists in the area. Only three white neighbors greeted me upon moving into my middle-to-upper class neighborhood in Columbia, SC. And I was constantly advised, by the most racist employees in South Carolina acquired by our California-based company with the purchase, to respect the confederate flag as heritage. However, all I could see was a heritage of hate, slavery, treason and white supremacy, especially given John C. Calhoun and James Henry Hammond, who raped his teen nieces, and publicly carried on the adulterous/pedophile relationship. South Carolina has named K-12 schools and highways after Hammond to honor a pedophile and racist.
One of those racist employees we acquired, “sold” from NCR, who speaks the same words as Tim Scott, is now a South Carolina leader in the Episcopalian church, but since I’ve known her, she has never spoke an honest word. She speaks the same lies about her racist employment practices, which led to her receiving letters of complaints, and lies about the “heritage” of the confederate flag daily, Maurice “religious right to hate” Bessinger praise and support, and all.
What then happened to me in South Carolina, was life-altering, I almost died because of that same, now Episcopalian, pro-white supremacy bishop. And there were zero laws to protect me.
Let me remind you of the words of John C. Calhoun, a SC State Representative and staunch racist:
Abolition and the Union cannot coexist.
We of the South will not, cannot, surrender our institutions. To maintain the existing relations between the two races, inhabiting that section of the Union, is indispensable to the peace and happiness of both. It cannot be subverted without drenching the country in blood, and extirpating one or the other of the races. Be it good or bad, [slavery] has grown up with our society and institutions, and is so interwoven with them that to destroy it would be to destroy us as a people. But let me not be understood as admitting, even by implication, that the existing relations between the two races in the slaveholding States is an evil:–far otherwise; I hold it to be a good, as it has thus far proved itself to be to both, and will continue to prove so if not disturbed by the fell spirit of abolition. I appeal to facts. Never before has the black race of Central Africa, from the dawn of history to the present day, attained a condition so civilized and so improved, not only physically, but morally and intellectually.teachingamericanhistory.org/library/document/slavery-a-positive-good/
As a taxpaying member of South Carolina, I contacted your office, when you were a State Senator, after your stint as a clerk of Sons of confederate Vets Strom Thurmond. I contacted your office to inquire about renaming a K-12 school in my Columbia area and a main highway, after someone more dignified than James Henry Hammond. But before I could even finish my question, your answer was, “No, it’s part of our heritage”. I was shocked, especially hearing those words from a black North Charleston, South Carolina representative/resident. The Black areas are still the same as they were in 2000 when I first visited the Charleston area. Again, where are the results of Tax Cuts And Jobs Act in your own represented area, especially for Black Americans? No one should be on welfare, nor struggling, in your district given your wealth, the wealth of Lindsey Graham, and top earners in your area reaping rewards of Tax Cuts And Jobs Act.
However, this is what you defended as part of your heritage:
Words of James Henry Hammond, which can be found in various library and educational resources:
In all social systems there must be a class to do the menial duties, to perform the drudgery of life. That is, a class requiring but a low order of intellect and but little skill. Its requisites are vigor, docility, fidelity. Such a class you must have, or you would not have that other class which leads progress, civilization, and refinement. It constitutes the very mud-sill of society and of political government; and you might as well attempt to build a house in the air, as to build either the one or the other, except on this mud-sill. Fortunately for the South, she found a race adapted to that purpose to her hand. A race inferior to her own, but eminently qualified in temper, in vigor, in docility, in capacity to stand the climate, to answer all her purposes. We use them for our purpose, and call them slaves. We found them slaves by the common “consent of mankind,” which, according to Cicero, “lex naturae est.” The highest proof of what is Nature’s law. We are old-fashioned at the South yet; slave is a word discarded now by “ears polite;” I will not characterize that class at the North by that term; but you have it; it is there; it is everywhere; it is eternal.www.pbs.org/wgbh/aia/part4/4h3439t.html
The Senator from New York said yesterday that the whole world had abolished slavery. Aye, the name, but not the thing; all the powers of the earth cannot abolish that. God only can do it when he repeals the fiat, “the poor ye always have with you;” for the man who lives by daily labor, and scarcely lives at that, and who has to put out his labor in the market, and take the best he can get for it; in short, your whole hireling class of manual laborers and “operatives,” as you call them, are essentially slaves. The difference between us is, that our slaves are hired for life and well compensated; there is no starvation, no begging, no want of employment among our people, and not too much employment either.
I grew up in New Orleans, blocks from David Duke’s family members and friends, and several other klan members, who are members of GOP today. My cousin, Lloyd Lazard, was the first black person to own a business in the Metairie-NOLA airport area. I had to pass a giant Knights of the kkkBuilding (I always lowercase “kkk” and “confederates”, if that’s okay with Mr. Scott) to and from his business, and we weren’t allowed to ice skate with other children in the mall area, but could only watch. And this was 1970s. https://obits.nola.com/amp/obituaries/nola/197544910
So, I’m well aware of what is racist and what is not. I was never taught hate of others, as that would contradict my own family members, including white family members, whose homes were targeted and burned down for not hating non-whites, or for marrying outside of their race. During Jim Crow, one white Uncle, blue eyes and all, married my very black Aunt, who’s darker than me. He was a military veteran, who fought for THIS country, not against it, and he also had to fight the klan regularly, including when taking my Aunt out to dinner, and being denied entrance. He owned his own business, and purchased a home around the corner from his business, just to reach his home quickly because of constant klan threats.
Other white family members could not acknowledge their black family members because of violent racism and constant threats, while some family members, who are lighter-skinned, are still, today, passing as “white”. We just pretend we don’t know each other, but our ancestry (Burgess) last name is not common.
I was the first black person allowed in the home of a NOLA klansman, at a sleepover at one of my teen friend’s home, but only after the klan-father was advised of our junior high school group get-together – it was a diverse group, which probably tormented him (Spanish-American, Japanese-American, Jewish-American and me, and his daughter, who learned tolerance, while her older sister still holds the same klan values). The irony is the klansman lived in a whites-only, rare NOLA mobile home park, off Chef Menteur Highway, literally under a freeway, while we owned a home, surrounded by infamous New Orleans celebrities. I guess white supremacy wasn’t profitable for him.
I also worked directly with a klan member at NOLA’s US Army Corps of Engineers. The vile things he’d proudly, publicly and repeatedly state, including “no black person would be allowed to live in his Metairie/Jefferson Parish neighborhood, they’re not wanted”, caused him to be demoted from a management position to clerk typist (instead of being fired, ironically, because of liberal union policies). You may remember that the voting district of David Duke, Steve Scalise and Senator John Kennedy (LA) refused to allow Black Americans to patronize Jefferson Parish businesses and stopped Black Americans for driving through their district after dark. Well, I definitely remember this, as it happened in my hometown area, and still does. https://www.nytimes.com/2007/10/02/us/02lee.html
As a clerk-typist at the NOLA Corps of Engineers is where I met the klansman, while I was working full-time in college. As I started reading books at the age of 3, and was overjoyed that I received my first library card at age 7, I learned so much, which allowed me to escape from horrors I should not have witnessed as a child, and among “christians”. Much of what the klansman would state (to instill some sort of superiority), I’d correct, with facts, at 18-years-old, and that would infuriate him. He was not going to be told facts, while expecting me to embrace his self-taught, Jim Crow benefactor rhetoric.
My facts came/come from my own family: Native Americans (who welcomed all) and pre-slavery (pre-1699) Black Americans, allowed to marry outside our race, own businesses, land and more, all of which went away because of not one, but two Congressional Fugitive Slave Acts, which allowed free blacks to be tormented by the ultimate inferior intellect, savages, and the same confederates/white supremacy that Tim Scott adores and supports. Meanwhile, Tim Scott’s own State’s residents live in squalor in rural areas, clinging to their hope that either the “south will rise again” (white supremacy), or, if black, that things will get better, while their State Representatives live like kings and queens, while representing the poorest of the poor.
I’m also proud to be friends of the descendants of abolitionists John Brown and Frederick Douglass, friends who constantly remind me what our nation was meant to be, and who we are not to placate, as we are so much better than inferior intellect savages, whose only commodity is “fear of others” and revisionist history, neither of which are profitable, except for the sellers. In fact, on a whim, after moving to NY State, my first tour was to the home of Miss Harriet Tubman, where I’d learn about William Seward, the founder of today’s GOP, abolitionist, and primary author of the Emancipation Proclamation.
Your words and persons placated are on the same side of history as those who fought against our nation: confederates, kkk, and Jim Crow benefactors/whites only. The klanspersons and Jim Crow benefactors that I personally know are quite vile, but adore you as someone who obeys their values, wholly, and who would fight for their heritage. Daily I see their posts, advising to obey them as Tim Scott does. That is your progress, your legacy.
I only wish that media members/photo journalists would tour rural areas of your state, as well as Kentucky, which has the highest welfare use in our nation – Owsley County, Kentucky (99% white, 95% GOP). I wish that media would photograph what the first wealthy tax cuts under Bush 43 AND 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act have done for both your state and other red states. Unfortunately, I would fear for their lives while touring through remote areas of your state.
Also, if you can show me a red state that is profitable (has a surplus), and adheres 100% to U.S. Constitution, without hindrance, racism and restrictions for anyone, has no poverty (given Tax Cuts and Jobs Act), has clean water for all, quality infrastructure (roads, bridges, technology), and innovation opportunities for all, I’ll become your biggest cheerleader. Please show us your words, in real time, real locations, versus a fantasy, which only aides and abets inferior intellect and real suffering of others.
I’m also sending a copy of the Tax Cuts And Jobs Acts question to several media outlets, as well as posting it publicly online.
We look forward to an honest response, which reflects jobs created and returned from overseas because of Tax Cuts And Jobs Act, while paying almost no taxes, and with corporate owners changing from billionaires to trillionaires.
